Occupy Central, New Era of Civil Disobedience in Hong Kong?

Occupy Central, New Era of Civil Disobedience in Hong Kong?

Public Lecture Series of Strait Talk Hong Kong 2013

Central, the most expensive area of Hong Kong, is crowded with banks, funds, investment banks, wealth, capital, ambition and desire. What does it mean for Central to be occupied? Is it the accusation of social injustice or the rebellion to financial capitalism? Is it a burst of civic dissatisfaction or the subversion of modernity? What do people want to achieve? What is really occupied? Benny Tai will unravel the phenomenon of “Occupy Central”–its significance, implications and historical impacts.
